Hi Everyone,
In the
spirit of this great "Please allow me to reintroduce myself" blogfest I thought I would take a chance to introduce
myself. My name is Jill and my “Little
Nut Tree” came from a seed planted earlier this year. I am quite new to blogging, in comparison to
many of you veterans, and it has been such fun to read your blogs and feel so
warmly welcomed, (and constantly inspired).
I am a wife and mom
of two first, on novel number three, (all here-to-for unpublished) and usually I squeak
in my hidden moments of writing with an excuse of having to check the laundry or
find a book for my three year old.
(Where has Mummy gone? Why—on the
computer of course, Darlings.) I compose my little “golden pears” usually to
the sweet sounds of my children wrestling—I mean dancing above me in
the living room, and often I fear they will come tumbling through the ceiling,
or, preferably, my three year old hangs on my leg and whines about playing a
video game while I put the finishing touches on a query. Needless to say typos are my signature.
My favorite
time to write is after all are snuggly tucked into bed, (husband included). I
have been sufficiently primed with coffee after dinner so as to maximize my
alertness-curve. I put on some Monteverdi,
brew a pot of Chamomile and lose myself in Glastonbury, England, the setting of
my new MG novel about –all things!, a time travelling young girl, dream-walking
and the magical, mystery Tor.
Hello, Jill! I have always loved your blog's name and images. Great to see you again!
ReplyDeleteFarting woman, reporting to duty!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Jill, how ya doing? I am so impressed that you have TWO novels under your belt and are working on number three!!! I've written one (that variously sucks and is Fine Literature, depending on what mood I'm in ... lately it's in the suckage category) so I know how hard it is, especially when you've got kidlets underfoot. So keep up the great work and hopefully we'll see you published and rich and famous some day! Nice to meetcha!
I love the title and look of your blog. I'm signing up to follow. How fun to introduce ourselves to someone new! Check us out at http://citymusecountrymuse2012.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteI'm giggling at the idea of you hiding from your children to sneak in a few minutes of writing. I think you're doing great with the blogging. Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteThanks for always being so supportive Hart!
DeleteHugs and warm fuzzies,
Jill
I have to hide from my family to write, as well. :-) How late do you stay up?
ReplyDeleteHow late do I stay up? As late as I can... depending on how long the coffee-curve lasts! Thanks for stopping by Krystal. I'm off to check out your blog--if I haven't already!

Hi Jill thanks for stopping by my blog. :) I write best at night, too...usually 2-4 am which is terrible for my sleeping schedule!! I like nibbling on chocolate chip cookies and drinking coffee when I write. :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Rachel, So nice to meet you. I don't know if I write "best" at night--but that's all I get! I do my blog stuff in the AM and WIP at night.
Delete~Just Jill
I'm all about the sneaking ten minutes in wherever I can. Though I try to fit in some solid, consecutive hours on the weekend if I can. If only it were possible to clone myself and get some of my other work done :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by Maradeth. Welcome to the nut-tree! Ahhh. The blessed ten-minutes! No wonder I'm a multi-draft writer!
Delete~Jill
Your writing time sounds disturbingly similar to mine. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteDisturbingly in a "good" way?
DeleteHa.
Thanks for popping 'round and for the comments, Ms. Bowers.
~Jill
I do my best writing at night when the kids are asleep.
ReplyDeleteA MG novel about time-traveling and magic set in England...sounds intriguing.
Hi Cynthia,
DeleteAhh. Another night-writer. Yes--only good comes from sleeping children! Thanks for stopping in.
~Jill
I usually do my writing at night too, but I try to keep away from the coffee after dinner. It keeps me up too late! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Krista, Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I used to have sleepless nights from coffee but then I became so completely, certifiably weary that I can sleep at the drop of a hat.
DeleteWatch.
Well, no one is serving me, but I can secure myself in my office for several hours a night without interruption. The loud music is a big deterrent!
ReplyDeleteNo one is serving you? But what about your minions, Sir?

I remember trying to fit in those writing moments. Now my youngest are in college so I have much more time. Nice to meet you.
ReplyDeleteI both pine and dread thoe approaching college years. I'll have no excuse but to be brilliant and prolific.
DeleteNice to meet you!
~Jill
Ah yes. Fitting in writing time is so tough. I have yet to master it. By the time I get all three of my little ones in bed I'm exhausted myself! My best time to write would be over morning coffee, but unfortunately for me that's active time for kids in the summer and time for me to go to work during the school year. Someday, I'll train myself to feel inspired and creative at night! Nice to meet you. Christy
ReplyDeleteHi Christy,
DeleteThanks for stopping by. It's a challenge with the kiddos isn't it? Nice to meet you and I shall stop round your blog too!
~Jill
I do a lot of late night and early morning writing. I lose night time sleep but that's what naps are for.
ReplyDeleteNaps? What are those? I didn't get the memo.
DeleteThanks for hosting such a fun blogfest Stephan.
~Jill
Ah, whenever the mood strikes, which isn't nearly often enough. But then my granchildren will show up and it's more fun to spend time with them or the dryer shuts off and I don't want things to wrinkle or ... or ... or... I simply don't write enough! I have two novels finished -- one really, really finished and the other in need of a rewrite -- and several picture books finished and a collection of poetry for kids that I've collaborated on with a critique partner. I enjoy reading your blog and think you've chosen the perfect background -- if you get my drift. Keep on keepin' on.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your words of encouragement Rosi. I enjoy reading your blog too!
DeleteI personally feel the world conspires to keep us from writing...but I bet the Grandchildren are worth it! (Maybe not so much the laundry.)
I do my best writing whenever I'm suppose to be doing something else. Haha. Like cooking, baking, cleaning. Hmm. Wonder what Freud would say about that?
ReplyDeleteVery nice to meet you again, Jill. Great blog. Your kidlets must be very proud.
Cleaning? What's that?
DeleteThanks for the kind words Joylene. It's been fun getting to know you.
Now get back to that chapter 16 villian!
~Jill
My husband never liked me to stay up late to write as he couldn't go to sleep without me present. (Everybody say "Aw.") But I'm self-employed so I have free time during the day. Sort of!
ReplyDeleteAwww. That's cute.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by the nut-tree and do feel free to come 'round again anytime. The door's always open.
Great to meet you Jill.
ReplyDeleteI always admire those writing moms... especially the ones with 3 or 4 little ones. I honestly don't know how you people do it! I seem to write best at night, after filling the system with more caffeine than is necessary.
Thanks for stopping by Michelle. Caffeine seems to be standard fuel for all writers, hmmm?

Great intro:) Luv the pics and the blog:)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Mark.
ReplyDelete~Jill
I also like to write into the wee hours. It's very impressive that you've written two books already Jill!
ReplyDeleteJulie
Thanks for stopping by Julie. ALways nice to hear from you.

Hi Jill! Just wanted to say hello and I'm so glad to meet you thanks to this fest. Congrats on your two books and best of luck with the third, that's impressive!
ReplyDeleteGreat to meet you! :)
Hi Julie,
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by. I'm off to visit you and yours!
